The CFX has a rotating breech. The owner's manual shown online mistakenly shows a pop-up breech.
The Gamo CFX is the ideal rifle for the shooter that wants power-plus the accuracy of a fixed barrelThe tube through which projectiles travel when they are fired. It may be rifled or smooth.

Things I liked:Very accurate gun, I put a 2x7 BSA scope on it and locktite on all screws, no problem with shifting or changing of scope, I shoot a consistant 1.25" group at 50 yards. I did change the trigger to achieve this.

Things I would have changed:Trigger, very hard pull, changed to a GRTIII and had a new gun. Loading is easy but I have big fingers in which it makes seating the tin hard for me, I have to use a push pin to get it in so when I close it I don't bend the tin
What others should know:Very good gun for the money, the fixed barrel is a plus since I don't like getting my hands on a barrel no more than I have to, one lever pull and you are ready to load and shoot

Things I liked:Jeeze..., What's there not to like? 3/4 inch groups out of the box after a little loc-tite on the site, penny size groups at 30 yards after break in, knock-down power enough for crows and similar size game.

What others should know:Buy it, maybe get a tuning kit (unnecessary unless you don't tolerate a little twang) modify the trigger yourself or get a grtIII. Buy a lot of crosman pellets, trust me, I bought 3 different kinds of beeman, the gamo sampler, cheap daisy pellets, and a tin of rws wad cutters, and so far I found crosman premier hollow points and destroyers are best frr accuracy and knockdown. Buy a scope and good mounts too, cuase I'm buying one right now and i'm losing money on shipping XD.

What others should know:I orderd a one piece high accushot base for this rifle, when I put the base on the reciever lining up the recoil pin made the base to far back to center the turrets between the rings. It doest affect accuracy at all, just asthetics. I reccomend geting a scope stop so you can move the mount foward about a half inch to solve this issue

Things I would have changed:As someone else said, it needs lock-tite on the elevation screw for the rear sight.
What others should know:I did a quick tear down and inspection before i started shooting it, the gun is very well made, it's accurate and i absolutely love it. I found the rotary breech quite easy to use, this gun has plenty of power, and the accuracy is impressive.

What others should know:I've put better than a thousand pellets downrage with my .177 (targets, not hunting). It's very accurate and easy to use. The rotating breech isn't the easiest thing to load, but it's no big deal, and the fiber optic iron sights are very cool, though I had to Loc-Tite the rear sight's elevation setting screw as it was gradually loosening and crawling my pellets up the target.
This is a full-sized rifle and I haven't had any problems with noise. It's big fun!

I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to buy a quality rifle. It shoots just as well as any higher priced rifles with great reliability. Some complain that the breach loading, but im very impressed by the inhrent accuracy of the fixed barrel, and the ease of loading.

6' 2" and 200 lbs this would not be a problem for me regardless. I have also read reports recounting difficulty in loading pellets. True, loading a pellet in the CFX is not like dropping a 7mm mag round in the Rem 700, but hey, it's a pellet - it's small, the fit in the breech is precise, and since I achieve a "kill" on the overwhelming majority of my first shots, I do not think rapid reload/fire is essential. The open sights (both fiber optic) work well, even in minimal light. Generally, for me, the rifle's appearance, feel, accuracy, and ease of operation are flawless, . One last note: I have read a number of critical reviews regarding the trigger mechanism. I, for one, have no complaints. The first stage travel is adjustable, and the second stage is smooth enough for me.
Things I would have changed:One peculiarity with my rifle/scope combination may be par for the course (widely reported for many rifles) so I did not consider it a fault. I mounted a Nikko 4-12X50 Tactical (illuminated reticule) scope. The scope came with an Accushot, high profile, one piece mounting ring. Unfortunately, at its maximum elevation setting, the scope shot about 2 inches low. Subsequently, I mounted the scope with a B-square high profile, one piece mount and was able to sight in perfectly. I cannot say that the rifle suffered from excess barrel drop or if the scope suffers from some type of manufacturing misalignment. The B-square cured "the problem" so I regard the whole matter as a bit of fine tuning and $40 bucks extra cost. Not a biggy.
What others should know:Some might consider the rifle to be heavy. It is heavier than my Benjamin Sherman 397P but not a problem, per se. Yes, I find that I am able to shoot the 397P more accurately off hand (the barrel is a foot shorter and the rifle a couple of pounds lighter) but it is easy enough to fire the CFX from a sitting position or with the forward hand braced against a tree trunk, boulder, etc.

Things I liked:The Gamo CFX is an under-rated rifel. I have guns that costs twice the money but are not as accurate. I purchased the CFX because I own a CF-30 that was dead accurate. This gun did not let me down in any respect. In my opinion, Gamo manufacturers the best guns regardless of price.
Things I would have changed:I would love for this gun to have a Rekord trigger but that is probably never going to happen. It would be nice if Gamo would offer this model with a malnut stock to compliment it's impressive accuracy.
What others should know:I get great results shooting Beeman wadcutters.

Things I would have changed:It wouldn't hurt to have an automatic mechanical device prevent firing with the breech open.
The iron sights on my particular rifle, while very well made and set up with the Tru-Glo enhancements, are so far off center that I had to move the rear sight adjustment to the right enough that it nearly ran out of windage adjustment.
However, this being a fixed barrel, and intending to scope it from the beginning, I found this as easy to get on target as a rimfire or centerfire rifle.
What others should know:This rifle exceeded my expectations by 50% from what I had read about it on the blog.
It did this by managing to shoot nearly every pellet I put through it - including even the Kodiak but not the Silver Ace - into .25"-.5" 25 yard 5-shot groups.
This is also a man sized rifle, so it is almost custom made for my 6'4" frame.
The advantage over a break barrel is clear.
